ECI Introduces Home Voting for Senior Citizens and Disabled, Simplifying the Process

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will facilitate senior citizens, those aged 80 and above, and those with 40 per cent disabilities to cast their vote from home using the home voting facility (postal ballot facility).

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar on Thursday said that the polling staff will visit the voter's residence and accept their votes. He said that voters in the two categories must file Form 12 D with the Election Commission within five days of the release of the poll notification.

He said that if the senior citizens and differently-abled persons chose to visit the polling stations, the ECI would provide transportation. Polling stations would be on the ground floor for easy access, he said. A wheelchair must be provided at all polling stations, Kumar said.
