Congress leaders take out candlelight rally

Speaking on the occasion, TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy criticised the Modi government for adopting anti-farmer policies in the country

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) leaders conducted a candlelight rally here on Tuesday night to pay tributes to four farmers, who were killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. The Congress leaders took out a rally from People's Plaza to Indira Gandhi statue at P.V. Narasimha Rao Marg and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah.

Speaking on the occasion, TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy criticised the Modi government for adopting anti-farmer policies in the country. No government had survived in history by taking anti-farmer policies, he said. Around 450 farmers had lost their lives during the protests against farm laws, he said, adding that the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh failed to control the law and order situation.

Revanth Reddy demanded that a murder case be registered against the son of union minister Ajay Mishra, who allegedly was responsible for the death of four farmers. With the support of Amit Shah, Ajay Mishra protected his son in the incident, he alleged. He also demanded a probe into the Lakhimpur Kheri incident by a judge of the Supreme Court. He also condemned the arrest of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi.

MLA Seethakka, working president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, election committee chairman C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, political affairs committee convener Mohammad Ali Shabbir, AICC secretary Sampath, national spokesperson Dasoju Sravan, former MP V. Hanumantha Rao and others were present. TPCC declared '1 lakh financial aid to each of the family members of four farmers, who were killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
