Mizoram boycott of Amit Shah called off
Shah is scheduled to visit Aizawl on Saturday on a day’s visit during which he will inaugurate an exhibition of northeast handloom.
Guwahati: In a a significant development, the coordination committee of NGOs in Mizoram on Friday evening decided to withdraw their boycott of the visit of Union home minister Amit Shah's visit to Aizawl on Saturday.
Vanlalrauta, President of the Young Mizo Association said, “We wanted discussion on the Citizenship Amendment Bill to put forward our points of view. Now that the home minister has called for a discussion on this issue, there is no point in the agitation as we got a platform for discussion.”
However, he added, “We want Mizoram to be out of the ambit of the Citizenship Amendment Bill.”
