Special pujas mark Guru peyarchi in Chennai
CHENNAI: Guru Bhagwan or Jupiter, which is a beneficial planet in astrological terms, on Thursday transited from Thulam (Libra) to Vrischikam (Scorpio).
Special pujas marked the occasion and the day being Thursday (the day associated with Guru), devotees considered it auspicious to offer prayers to the Lord. Though all the Shaivaite temples in the city having a separate shrine for Sri Dakshinamurthy had conducted the pujas in the evening to mark the transit, the Thiruvaleeshwar temple at Padi, wore a festive look.
The Lord and also the Goddess Jagathambika were adorned with colourful robes and jewels. The temple is considered as Guru parihara sthalam in the city.
There is a saying in Tamil, “Guru Paarka Koodi Nanmai” meaning Jupiter’s aspect can ward off negativities and bring multifold benefits. As per the Thiru Kanitha panchangam, Jupiter will transit on Oct. 11 and will stay at Scorpio till Nov. 4, 2019.
