Hyderabad: A student from the Osmania University allegedly attempted suicide at Arts College on the campus on Thursday. The cops from Osmania Police station rescued the student after the students alerted the cops.

Speaking to this newspaper, Naresh another student and one of the eye witnesses said, “The victim was upset over the clash between the exam dates of Panchayat Secretary exam and RRB Group IV. He was preparing for a government job since a long time and had applied for both the exams. However, after getting to know that both the exams were on same date he was very upset and since a week he along with other aspirants who had applied for both the exams were protesting on the Osmania University premises.”

Usually the Central Government releases a yearly calendar mentioning the competitive exams and their dates. “The State should be careful about conducting exams for State jobs and see that State exams do not coincide with Central exams. Besides, the Panchayat Secretary job was a temporary job and would only get permanent after three years,” said another student.

Meanwhile sub-inspector of police, Osmania police station, Srikanth, said, “After getting the information from the students about the attempt to suicide, we immediately rushed to the spot and rescued him. He was only threatening.”
