AP to be a talent hub by 2025: Sandhya Rani

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh will become India’s largest talent and technology hub by 2025, said commissioner of school education K. Sandhya Rani.

She inaugurated the Oswaal Books-Fijeeha 6th All-India Roundtable Conference on Future of School Education here on Thursday. Oswaal announced a new scheme for teachers to become authors and announced scholarships for children.

Addressing the gathering, Ms Rani said that the government invests '20,000 crore, which means 17 per cent of the budget, in school education and opined that more needs to be pumped in.

“There is also an urgent need to work on pre-primary education to make the state a knowledge and technology hub in the world,” she said.

Futher, she said that the government can be most effective when it partners with experts, community, parents and other stakeholders.

Oswaal Round Table is a good effort to bring together people to deliberate on making education more meaningful.

The commissioner opined that concerted efforts need to be put in on teachers’ training - pre-service, in-service, quality of teaching and learning outcomes, strengthening credible and effective vocational training programmes, improving curriculum, bringing global best practices and making judicious investments.

“Following Gandhiji's dictum of being the change - we can achieve if each one of us can contribute our bit,” she said.

Oswaal Books also announced its commitment to continue towards contributing to educational needs of children in AP.

Oswaal Books marketing director Prashant Jain, editorial director Swati Jain, Forum for Indian Journalists on Education, Environment, Health and Agriculture (FIJEEHA) president Navaneet Anand, students, principals and teachers from various schools in Vijayawada city were present.
