GMC warns vacant plots' owners of serious action

Guntur: The Guntur Municipal Corporation is planning to dig temporary drains for free flow of sewage water to improve sanitation in the city.

Ms Anuradha said that meteorology officials predicted heavy rains for the next three days. The GMC is taking steps to ensure free flow of rainwater to avoid marooning, she said.

Noticing stagnation of water in vacant plots, she said the GMC issued notices to the owners several times but only a few people responded and developed their plots, she said, adding that vacant plots are the best breeding grounds for mosquitoes due to the garbage dumped in those places.

She warned the owners of vacant plots that the GMC will develop them and use the same for the corporation's use. She directed the concerned GMC officials to initiate steps to develop the vacant plots as GMC land.

Ms Anuradha directed the GMC town planning wing to check sticking of posters on the walls and putting up banners on roads. She also directed them to remove encroachments on the roads.

GMC city planner Chakrapani, assistant city planner Satyanarayana and other officials participated in the inspection programme.
