East Godavari district shines in NREGS works execution
Kakinada: East Godavari has taken the first place in the state in grounding various works under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). It secured second place in having been able to complete such works.
East Godavari Collector Kartikeya Misra said here on Wednesday that based on certain parameters like labour budget, average wage, timely payment, farm ponds, individual household latrines, solid waste management, anganwadi buildings, gram panchayat buildings, horticulture works and others with regard to grounding of works under NREGS, the district stood in the first place in the entire state.
He instructed officials to expedite execution of several works like laying of cement-concrete roads and housing convergence works after having secured the second place in completion of such works.
The collector said that under NRT rural housing scheme, out of 23,897 houses sanctioned for the year 2016-17, as many as 21,929 units were grounded so far by registering 92 per cent units.
With regard to training unemployed youth in skill development, the collector said that training would help the youth obtain bank loans under various schemes. He asked the unemployed youth to register their names under the skill development training and assured them that they would be able to start such training at divisional and mandal level also as they had already started at district level.
