Cyberabad: 690 cases booked, 98 drunk drivers imprisoned
HYDERABAD: Ninety-eight drunk drivers have been imprisoned and 690 drunken driving cases booked in Cyberabad city limits in the fortnight long drive conducted by the police from September 16 to September 30, 2017.
The offenders were produced in the concerned courts in areas like Balanagar, Miyapur, Jeedimetla, Kukatpally, Rajendra Nagar and Shamshabad.
A total number of 98 persons were convicted with imprisonment ranging from 2 to 13 days by the metropolitan courts.
The maximum number of drunken driving cases was booked in Kukatpally (154 cases) and Rajendra Nagar (105 cases) with the least number of cases in Shamshabad (64 cases).
Amongst 690 cases, 518 cases are still pending while 172 have paid their challans so far.
Out of 98 offenders, 11 offenders have been imprisoned for 13 days and 4 have been convicted for 11 days and the majority — 40 offenders, imprisoned for 2 days.
