Appoint State Security Commission to save TN police: MK Stalin

He claimed that the police was being used to foist cases on the opposition parties and also to control the public.

CHENNAI: DMK working president M.K. Stalin has demanded the TN chief secretary to immediately appoint a State Security Commission to “save” Tamil Nadu police and alleged that a section of police is conducting in a partisan manner.

He claimed that the police was being used to foist cases on the opposition parties and also to “control” the public. As the law and order DGP holds additional charge of intelligence (wing), the intelligence department is reduced to the stature of executing the chores of the government. “Hence, there is an imperative need to constitute the State Security Commission as per the TN Police (Reforms) Act, 2013,” he said.

The task of the State Security Commission is very important for policymakers to provide effective guidance for policing and providing guidance to help people.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday Stalin alleged that the workers including women beneficiaries of the MGNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) were made to attend the AIADMK founder MGR’s birth centenary function in Karur on Wednesday evening.

“I have information about even school buses being used to bring these workers for the function,” Mr. Stalin asserted. If the Chief Secretary, who is duty bound to reply, does not explain, the DMK would not hesitate to approach the court on the issue, he said.
