Telangana : Engineering colleges seek break
HYDERABAD: Engineering colleges from Telangana have decided to seek relaxation in the maximum intake of first-year students in a particular course. They are not satisfied with the current upper limit of 180.
“A private engineering college raised the number of seats in CSE above 400 when there was no bar on intake of freshers a few years ago. The new rules prevent colleges to go beyond. This has given undue advantage to some colleges,” said the co-owner of a private college.
Engineering colleges will also be requesting the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to alter the teacher-student ratio to 1:20 from the present1:15.
These are some of the main issues that representatives of Engineering Colleges Association decided to voice during the one-day workshop convened by AICTE on the approval process for 2017-18 to be held on Wednesday.
Issues being faced in the approval process, reforms to be proposed, vacancy position in each state in the present academic year, innovative practices employed, suggestions for reforms etc. will be discussed at the meeting.
