Telangana government officials missing from Muharram meeting

The meeting is usually called before the month of Muharram by inviting the officials of various government departments.

Hyderabad: The Muharram meeting conducted by the state government in the run up to the first Islamic month, wherein the Shia community observes mourning, was held without officials of some important government departments.

The officials of the forest department were absent at the meeting while the TS Wakf Board and Minorities Welfare Department officials maintained that they had informed the others about the meeting. The officials of various government departments, including TSRTC, Roads and Buildings and other departments too were absent.

The meeting is usually called before the month of Muharram by inviting the officials of various government departments, public representatives and important religious leaders.

Telangana Shia Youth Association, President, Hamed Hussain Jaffery asked the government to ensure proper supply of drinking water and uninterrupted power supply. He also demanded that the GHMC should lay roads in all the areas immediately.

Firasat Ali Baqri of Fatima Seva Dal said that it was unfortunate that the forest department officials failed to attend the meeting.
