Bengaluru: A meeting with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy that lasted a few minutes during his Janata Darshan on Saturday helped a 30-year-old software engineer get her flat registered with the help of Whitefield Division police within 24 hours of her allegation that she was cheated by a builder.
The techie, Vandana Kukreja, who hails from Madhya Pradesh and stayin at Kaverappa Layout in Marathahalli, had purchased a flat from VKC Builder at Panathur and made the full payment of Rs 65 lakh in January this year.
The builder had assured Vandana that he would get the flat registered in her name on August 28. But soon after, he started avoiding her. After approaching many government offices without any success, she took part in Janata Darshan seeking Mr Kumaraswamy’s help.
Mr Kumaraswamy asked the city police commissioner to look into the matter and do the needful.
DCP Whitefield Division, Abdul Ahad formed a special team and directed Maratahalli police to take up the case on priority. A team led by Inspector Sadiq Pasha, tracked down VKC company owner Vijay Kumar Chaurasia and filed an FIR against him. Police said that Chaurasia confessed that he was avoiding Vandana as he was in financial trouble.
On Monday he along with the police went to the jurisdictional sub-registrar’s office and got the property registered in the name of Vandana. Ms Vandana met chief Minister on Tuesday and thanked him for all the help.
