Experts: State should focus on tax benefits

The government should focus on tax, industrial benefits and the Amara-vati capital fund, said K. Akkaiah Naidu.

Vijayawada: Intellectuals from various walks of life have suggested that the state government take precautions if it was given a special package. They said that the state government should not allow the Polavaram and road projects to be included in it.

Road projects came under the category of nation-wide infra building and Polavaram had already been given ‘national project’ status, former irrigation department official P. Raja Rao said.

The government should focus on tax, industrial benefits and the Amaravati capital fund, said K. Akkaiah Naidu, former president of Auditors, Vijayawada Chapter. The state government should get all the tax benefits if it accepted the special package.

The Centre’s support was required urgently, he said, adding that the st-ate government should take care of its own interests.

Former minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao said that the tax benefits were important and the state would see growth; industries had therefore been established only in the new state, with none having been established after the state's bifurcation.

Erstwhile VUDA chairman Tumati Premnath hoped that Chief Mini-ster N. Chandrababu Naidu could protect the interests of the state. He further said that there was no need for Opposition parties to stage protests when the Centre was going to announce special category status.
