AP generates highest number of 4.13 cr ABHA accounts in country

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has generated the largest number of 4,13,06,832 Ayushman Bharat Health Account numbers in the country. The state covered nearly 85 per cent of its population and this feat got recognition from the National Health Authority.

Health special chief secretary Krishna Babu said here on Friday that the National Health Authority acknowledged the state government’s successful efforts and innovative approach to generate a unique 14-digit ABHA number for its citizens as a special case study.

He thanked CM Jagan Reddy, who had been accorded top priority to health and education sectors to achieve Sustainable Development Goals and in targets vis-à-vis achieving health indicators.

The state health authorities said that Andhra Pradesh had adopted an innovative approach to generate ABHA numbers in conjunction with a non-communicable disease survey, in a single step, with the help from the field-level health workers like ANMs and ASHA workers.

The method involved was to conduct a door-to-door survey to generate ABHA numbers and linking a basic health profile to the surveyed population.

ABHA would serve as a unique identifier for individuals participating in India’s digital healthcare ecosystem and it would also provide a hassle-free method for accessing and sharing health records digitally and would enable the citizens to interact with participating healthcare providers by allowing them to receive digital lab reports, prescriptions and diagnoses seamless from verified healthcare professionals, a statement here said.

ABHA would also help avoid long queues for registration in healthcare facilities and would facilitate seamless sign-up for personal health records applications like Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission’s ABHA mobile application for health data sharing.
