Amit Shah Thanks PM For Bold Move on Abrogation of Article 370 on its 4th Anniversary
Bhubaneswar: Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday remembered the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution and introduction of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 in the Parliament on August 5, 2019.
August 5 marks the fourth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35 A.
The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 was introduced and passed by Rajya Sabha on August 5, 2019. A day later, the bill was passed by the Lok Sabha.
Shah, who is on a two-day visit to the state to inaugurate two National Highway projects and review the Leftwing Extremism situation in the state, said with the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A as well as the enactment of The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 the people J&K had joined the mainstream of India life and the state saw massive economic prosperity.
“It’s a glorious occasion today to remember the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian Constitution and the passing of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 in the Parliament on August 5, 2019. On this occasion, we all extend our sincere thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his inspiring and visionary leadership for such bold moves,” said Shah.
The home minister also underlined the decline in Maoist activities in the country.
“The Naxal activities in the country have declined by 30 percent. Similarly, there has been a 32 percent decline in the casualty of security personnel engaged in anti-Maoist activities. Besides, there has been a drastic fall in the stone-pelting activities,” said Mr Shah.
He thanked Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Naveen Patnaik for his “continuous cooperation” to the Union government in its fight against the Maoists.
“The Union government is committed to wage a decisive battle against the Maoists. Odisha has always strongly contributed to this fight,” he said.
The home minister also lauded the Odisha government and CM Naveen Patnaik state’s exemplary performances in disaster management.
“The 1999 Odisha Super-cyclone killed thousands of people. Odisha learnt from it and prepared a robust disaster preparedness strategy. In subsequent cyclones and other natural disasters, it has always achieved zero casualties. Odisha has in fact shown the path to the Union government and other provincial establishments on how to put in place strong disaster management mechanisms,” Shah said.
