President Ram Nath Kovind Kerala visit begins today

Official sources said the President would inaugurate the centenary celebrations of St Thomas College, Thrissur, on August 7 before returning to Delhi.

Thiruvananthapuram: President Ram Nath Kovind will arrive here on Sunday for a three-day visit to the state. He will inaugurate the 'Festival of Democracy' to mark the conclusion of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Kerala Legislative Assembly on August 6. Governor P. Sathasivan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan and Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala will take part in the event to be held at the legislature complex here.

The function will be followed by a two-day national legislators’ conference on 'Challenges in the empowerment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in independent India.’

Official sources said the President would inaugurate the centenary celebrations of St Thomas College, Thrissur, on August 7 before returning to Delhi. His itinerary also includes offering prayers at the Sree Krishna temple in Guruvayoor on Wednesday.
