K T Rama Rao launches Disaster Response Force

The DRF, which comprises of 120 teams, will function under the civic body's Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management (EVDM) wing.

HYDERABAD: Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister K Taraka Rama flagged off the Disaster Response Force (DRF), which would tackle emergencies within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, on Saturday.

The DRF, which comprises of 120 teams, will function under the civic body’s Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management (EVDM) wing. The DRF team members were trained for two months in handling axes, fire extinguishers and other equipment and the procedure to be followed during rescue and relief operations. The teams will use eight vehicles and 11 different types of equipment like rope ladders and fire extinguishers.
