Vellore woman ends life after poisoning 7-year-old daughter

Depressed over the frequent quarrels, Vanishree first administered poison to her only daughter and then hung herself at their home.

VELLORE: In a gory tragedy triggered by family squabbles at Vasanthapuram KK Nagar in Vellore town, a 35-year-old mother committed suicide by hanging after having poisoned her seven-year-old daughter on Friday.

Police said the deceased woman Ms Vanishree, who was married to 35-year-old Kumaran, working as a superintendent in 'Tasmac', the state-run liquor retailer, used to frequently quarrel at home. The couple also has a five-year-old son Kishore.

Depressed over the frequent quarrels, Vanishree first administered poison to her only daughter and then hung herself at their home.

On information Vellore south police station personnel rushed to the spot, retrieved the two bodies of the mother and daughter and sent them for post-mortem at the Government medical college hospital here. Further investigations are on.
