Maha yagam to make Jagan Mohan Reddy Andhra Pradesh CM
Hyderabad: YSRC leaders and sympathisers have started a ‘Maha Rudra Sahita Sahasra Chandi Yagam’ in Nagole here, aimed at making party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 2019.
The yagam will continue till the day of election results, almost two years from now. YSRC leader and former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy attended the yagam on the first day to take sankalpam.
He said the yagam was being performed by priests led by Nimmapeddi Sivaramakrishna. “They invited me to take part. I am not organising it. The ritual will continue without a break for two years,” he said.
“The intention is to make Mr Jagan the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and to pray for the victory of the YSRC,” Mr Karunakar Reddy said.
Vedic scholars A. Vijaya Sarada Reddy and Varaprasada Reddy are organising the yagam. Of late, Mr Jagan has been getting close to various seers of peetams like the Sharada Peetham in Visakhapatnam.
Recently, he sought the blessings of China Jeeyar Swamy while attending an engagement function of the daughter of a TV channel owner. The ruling TD has been critical of Mr Jagan’s move to get closer with the seers.
TD has earlier made an issue when Mr Jagan did not sign the mandatory disclaimer at Tirumala during darshan. YSRC leaders said the YSR family was secular to the core and respected all religions. The larger family has a mixed religious background.
