Tamil Nadu: Door-to-door campaign from August 18, says CPM

A resolution to this effect was passed at the state committee meeting of the party.

CHENNAI: The state unit of CPM on Friday announced that it would form 10,000 teams to indulge in a door-to-door campaign from August 18 to 23 to mobilise people against the 'anti-people policies of the centre and state governments'.

A resolution to this effect was passed at the state committee meeting of the party. The party would demand increase of procurement price of agricultural products with 50 per cent more than the production price.

It would demand waiver of farmers loans and withdrawal of increase in GST and stopping sale of public sector units to private sector.

The campaign would demand exemption from NEET for Tamil Nadu, besides continuing the public distribution scheme. The party also said the petro-chemical investment region scheme should not be taken up without people's consent. It also demanded the release of persons who were jailed under Goondas Act for involving themselves in protests on people's issues, the party resolution said. The CPM would conduct public meetings and seminars against the 'communal activities' of the BJP government.
