Andhra Pradesh sells unprocessed milk to people in Hyderabad

Telangana Dairy Development Federation had denied it access to the milk processing factory in Lalapet of Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: The AP government on Thursday admitted before the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday that it had been selling unprocessed milk in Hyderabad as the newly emerged Telangana Dairy Development Federation had denied it access to the milk processing factory in Lalapet of Hyderabad.

Mr Dammalapati Srinivas, advocate general of AP, was arguing before a division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice U.

Durga Prasad Rao in a petition seeking to declare the GO Ms No 8 issued on May 6, 2016, transferring its assets to Telangana as illegal. He submitted that they were unable to processes their milk at the Lalapet unit as they were not allowed use the facility.

Mr K. Ramakrishna Reddy, advocate-general of Telangana, meanwhile alleged that AP had been spoiling the Vijaya Brand market in Hyderabad. He said that AP officials were disturbing the-ir market by using the same brand name of Vijaya Milk.

Mr Srinivas contended that till bifurcation of the corporation by the Centre, AP is supposed to have rights over the Vijaya brand. He said that they could not sell their milk under any other name because the Corporation was not yet officially bifurcated.
