Andhra Pradesh govt to train 1 lakh on digital skills

Programme to be launched today at AU.

Visakhapatnam: State IT and C department will launch AP Cloud programme through which around one lakh college students will be trained in various emerging digital technologies for the next 18 months. Training will be imparted through workshops, boot camps and seminars at the colleges. There will also be virtual training besides material can also be downloaded from www.apcloud.in.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, the channel partner of the AP Cloud initiative, Miracle Software Systems, CEO Prasad Lokam said that the programme will be launched on Friday at Dr Y.V.S. Murthy auditorium in Andhra University. He said that the initiative is aimed at making Andhra Pradesh the world’s destination for digital transformation skills.

“We will also be having the first set of 100 ambassadors and 25 coaches along with the faculty ambassadors be present over there at the inaugural. Any company whether it is from America or Europe or Asia they are finding it difficult to get talented and skilled persons to setup their companies. The goal of this programme is to enable one lakh people on digital transformation skills and to create an ecosystem of companies to be located in Vizag. Apart from these two key goals the other most important thing is to bridge the gap between the industry and academia and while investing very aggressively on promoting the startups and creation of innovation labs around the digital transformation,” Mr Prasad said.

He added that there are also plans to do a very large digital marketing campaign to ensure that this message get to be heard by the key decision makers and the chief executives at the Fortune 2000 companies abroad and over the world. “We also plan on building some key infrastructure around this to ensure that we have the necessary buildings and labs to ensure that we will be able to deliver the key pieces of the digital transformation services,” he added. Miracle software systems will spend about Rs 6 crore from its own resources on the AP Cloud initiative to train the students to be ‘digital ready’, Mr Prasad said.
