VIJAYAWADA: New Sand Policy in the state is expected to come into effect from September 2. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had reviewed the new Sand Policy with the officials concerned. Sand will be supplied through AP Mineral Development Corporation.

Talking to the officials concerned, Mr Jagan said that the New Sand Policy should ensure environment protection and bring revenue to the government in a transparent manner.  He said that stock yards should be established at all the sand reaches and additional stockyards need to be set up in towns and cities. Receipts need to be issued even while transporting sand from the reaches to the stockyards.
