Hyderabad: In a rare instance, the Golconda police station has been fined Rs 10,000 as unauthorised flexies and hoardings were installed in the Bonalu festival area.
The Bonalu festivities start at the temple in Golconda fort on Sunday.
The GHMC officials who visited the site stated that these flexies have been installed without permission and the action is taken on preventive measures.
The GHMC officials from the sanitation department that in case of fire or any other untoward incident the GHMC will be held responsible. For that reason, preventive action has been taken and the police has been fined as they allowed for the setting up of the flexies without taking the required permission from the civic body. The challan was issued on July 4.
Following the fire at a building in Surat in which 22 students were killed, the GHMC has taken a tough stand against violation of fire safety standards.
