Lucknow: The Lucknow University was closed down on Wednesday till further orders following violence on the campus.
The university administration has also suspended the ongoing counselling for the next academic session.
According to reports, several outsiders and former students entered the campus and got into an altercation with university officials during counselling. They also roughed up several officials including the proctor and dean.
Trouble had been brewing on the campus for the last few days as several students who had been denied admission had been on hunger strike.
University authorities have charged the police of not cooperating with them and said that this was one of the reasons for closing down the university just when the academic session was beginning.
Information about the closure has been conveyed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanathand Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma through a tweet.
The police, meanwhile, claimed to have arrested the culprits. A heavy deployment of forces has also been made on the campus....
