Hyderabad: The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday reinstituted the option of ‘Hindu non-vegetarial meal’ for its economy class passengers.

This newspaper had first reported that the airline had withdrawn the meal for its economy class passengers while retaining it for those in the business and first classes from October 1. The ‘Hindu non-vegetarian meal’ does not comprise beef.

In a statement, the airline said, “Based on feedback from our customers, Emirates confirms we will continue to provide a Hindu meal option, to make it easier for our Hindu customers to identify and request this option”.

Revoking its decision within 48 hours, the airline said: Emirates has always provided a variety of special meals that can be ordered at least 24 hours in advance to cater to our customers with medical or religious dietary requirements, including our Hindu customers.”

“We constantly review our offering, taking into consideration customer uptake and feedback. Food and drink form an integral part of any Emirates flight experience,” it said.
