Hyderabad: Around 50 cases of viral fever and diarrhoea have been reported in the city due to the dry spell in the last 10 days.
Dr S. Shanker, superintendent of Fever Hospital said, “There are cases of viral fever and stomach upset in the hospital. Due to strong winds there are viruses from other places. Most of the cases are mild and it subsides in a day or two. We are asking patients to take rest and not move around as it can get transmitted to others.”
The OP department of Fever Hospital sees 600 to 800 cases per day of which most are these two diseases.
Private hospitals too have reported a surge in fevers.
Dr G. Srinivas, physician said, “The contamination of drinking water is the cause of stomach problems. People must be careful when they eat outside. This is the major reason for these cases.”
