Permissions to get tougher for institutes in Hyderabad

Though many parents' associations claimed that there have not been regular checkups or inspection of the schools, Mr Ramesh said.

Hyderabad: This year promises to be a little different with the education department claiming to be stricter about granting permissions and approvals.

“We are keeping strict tabs and not letting anyone flout the rules. Permissions will be given only after thorough verification,”said Hyderabad district educational officer G. Ramesh. “As per rules, the room size should be minimum 8 feet and if we get any complaint regarding discomfort of any sort, we will look into the matter and attend to it immediately,” Mr Ramesh said.

With regard to lack of playground space, officials claim that schools are now taking advantage of the government’s directive to use the GHMC grounds when required for the children’s benefit.

“Due to scarcity of land, the government has given special permission to institutions in Hyderabad to utilise the nearest GHMC ground that can be taken on lease and used for the children to play. Most of the schools have taken the permissions and are using the facilities,” he said.

Though many parents’ associations claimed that there have not been regular checkups or inspection of the schools, Mr Ramesh said, “Our officials are regularly inspecting school organisations to check for any violations and are following up the complaints promptly.”
