Temple demolition will be as per shastras: Chandrababu Naidu
VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has suggested that the official machinery and public representatives elicit the opinion of the public, before demolishing any religious structure.
Speaking after examining repair work to the model guest house near Durga Ghat on Monday, the Chief Minister said that road extension work was important. “At the same time, demolition of religious structures should be done as per the shastras and without hurting the sentiments of the people,” he said.
He asked the BJP and the TD leaders to keep calm and not fight on the streets over the issue of temple demolition. While mentioning that a few temples will have to be removed as part of road widening, the CM added that all these would be rebuilt as per the shastras.
The Chief Minister said that he was confident that all work related to the forthcoming Krishna Pushkaraalu would be completed by July 30, and expressed satisfaction over the quality of the completed works.
