Hyderabad women employees prefer to stay in hostels

120 children of employees had been provided admissions in schools in Vijayawada.

Hyderabad: Most of the women employees who will be shifting to the Amaravati capital area from Hyderabad prefer sharing accommodation in hostels proposed to be provided by the state government.

On the request of women employees, the government has decided to set up a hostel for women employees of the Secretariat at Rain Tree apartments. For women staff of the heads of department offices, hostel facilities will be provided at Vijayawada and Guntur. The government has not yet shortlisted the women’s hostels in these two cities.

The government also decided to provide free boarding and lodging for women employees who want to reside at women hostels for six months.

The government has started a website to make online registrations for residential for the employees. By Monday evening, about 300 employees had signed up. Among them, 127, work at the Secretariat and the rest at the offices of the HoDs. Most of them are women. Some employees registered their names individually and some others department wise.

Principal secretary L. Premachandra Reddy, who is overseeing the shifting of the administration from Hyderabad to the capital area, said 120 children of employees had been provided admissions in schools in Vijayawada and 20 in Guntur.

He said some employees were getting school admissions for their children by themselves, while others were approaching the government .

The government has decided to move the transport, roads & buildings department and the Vigilance Commission office from Hyderabad to the temporary secretariat at Vijayawada on July 6.

On July 15, some more departments, which had been allotted space on the ground floor in the temporary secretariat would be moved.

According to official sources these dates may change; the R&B and Vigilance Commission may move only on July 11 and the other departments on July 19.
