Cabinet rejig: 3 newly-inducted ministers cycle to Rashtrapati Bhavan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expanded his Cabinet Tuesday, bringing in 17 new faces and two old hands.

New Delhi: As the Modi government expanded its Cabinet to include 19 new ministers, there were some newly inducted faces who made a mark with their simplicity.

According to an NDTV report, three ministers-to-be cycled their way to the Rashtrapati Bhavan where the oath taking ceremony for the new ministers took place.

Chief Whip of the BJP in the Lok Sabha, Arjun Ram Meghwal cycled slowly down the high security avenue leading to the presidential palace.

Asked whether he could continue riding a cycle after becoming minister, Meghwal said the decision would be left to the government.

Meghwal has been cycling to work ever since the odd-even scheme was announced by the Delhi government.

Another minister-to-be, Mansukhbhai Mandavia, also opted to take his cycle to the oath ceremony. He is a BJP member of the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. He said he had been riding a cycle to work for the last three years.

Anil Dave, a Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh, is the third minister who rode to the Rashtrapati Bhavan on a cycle. He has been heavily involved in the campaign for cleaning the Narmada river.
