Vijayawada: Sriram Subramanyam is new A-G
Vijayawada: The state government on Tuesday appointed senior advocate in the AP High Court Sriram Subramanyam as the new advocate-general. The appointment followed the resignation of Mr Dammalapati Srinivas who was appointed as the A-G by the previous TD government.
On Tuesday, the government issued two GOs — one appointing Mr Subramanyam as the A-G and the other one accepting Mr Srinivas' resignation.
“In exercise of the power conferred by Article 165 (1) of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh hereby appoints Sri Subramanyam Sriram as advocate general for the state of Andhra Pradesh with effect from the date on which he assumes charge of the office”, said Chief Secretary L.V. Subramanyam in the GO No 145.
Meanwhile, former IPS officer Kode Durga Prasad who was advisor to the state government in the home department also tendered his resignation and it was accepted. “Kode Durga Prasad, IPS (Retired), advisor to the government has tendered his resignation from the post. The government, after careful examination of the matter, hereby accepts the resignation... with immediate effect”, said the GO No: 552.
