Ooty: Anti-caste activist Kausalya’s suspension revoked

Employed at the WCB since late 2016, Kausalya got into trouble for a controversial remark in a TV interview that led to her suspension then.

Ooty: Suspension of anti-caste activist Kausalya, who was suspended after speaking against the sovereignty of India in February, was revoked by the Wellington Cantonment Board (WCB) near here where she is employed as an accounts assistant.

Kausalya became a crusader against caste killings after her first husband Shankar, was hacked to death in Udumalaipet in March 2016 as her family opposed their marriage. Shankar belonged to a Dalit community, while Kausalya hails from a dominant community. After nearly two years, she married parai artist Sakthi at a ceremony held at Coimbatore last December.

Employed at the WCB since late 2016, Kausalya got into trouble for a controversial remark in a TV interview that led to her suspension then.

Mr. Harish Varma, chief executive officer at WCB, while talking to media persons on Tuesday at Wellington, said Kausalya's suspension was revoked recently as she apologized for her remarks.
