Nellore: SPB felicitates Chandramohan, Aabid Surti

He was all praise for the services of Aabid Surti to the society.

Nellore: Popular playback singer S.P. Balasubramanyam presented the National Award constituted on his name to actor M. Chandramohan and founder of Drop Dead Foundation Aabid Surti, under the auspices of Vijetha Arts, in the premises of Nellore town hall, on the occasion of his birthday on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people from Nellore took part in the colourful function and greeted the singer and other dignitaries.

Mr Balasubramanyam and his son Charan, along with Praveen and Nada Priya, entertained the gathering with songs from the films of Chandramohan, before the felicitation ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Balasubramanyam recalled his decades-long association with Chandramohan and dwelt upon the acting talents of the artiste.

He was all praise for the services of Aabid Surti to the society. He said that Aabid Surti is a painter, author, cartoonist, journalist, environmentalist and screenwriter. Aabid Surti was also a National Award recipient from the Government of India, in 1993, for one of his books.

Balasubramanyam said that he has earmarked one award for those serving the society, from this year, while reminding that he used to present awards to outstanding personalities in different fields every year during his birthday celebrations.

The programme was graced by Chief of Shantha Biotech Koduru Eswara Vara Prasad Reddy, noted lyricist Vennelakanti Rajeswar Rao, Hazarath Babu of Muralikrishna Hotels, Tunga Siva Prabhat Reddy of Lawyer Weekly paper and Rambhatla Nrusimha Sarma.
