Nellore: Mekapati holds meeting with civic body officials

Reddy instructed the municipal officials to mitigate drinking water problems in Atmakur town and ensure hygienic conditions in the town.

Nellore: Atmakur legislator Mekapati Gautham Reddy warned Municipal officials of stringent action if they were found involved in corruption and made it clear that he would not spare corrupt elements in his constituency.

During a review with civic body officials at Atmakur on Tuesday, he said they would initiate action against officials and TD ward members responsible for corruption in the previous government.

Mr Reddy rebuked them for not taking up any development works in the wards represented by opposition members. He took stock of issues pertaining to sanitation, street lights, roads, housing and other issues during the review.

He told the officials to take steps to prepare a master plan for Atmakur and asked them to find alternative revenue generating sources as the expenditure was crossing Rs 4 crore while the income was only Rs 3.20 crore.

Commissioner Krishna Murthy, EE Venkateswarlu and AE Durga Prasad were present in the review apart from other officials. Earlier, Mr Reddy inspected the government hospital and elicited information on services being provided at the hospital. He advised the medical officers to treat patients with care.
