Kevin murder case: Cyber official questioned

The prosecution, which also examined two police officers as witnesses, has examined 100 witnesses in the case.

Kottayam: The prosecution on Tuesday examined the cyber forensic expert in connection with the Kevin murder case at the principal sessions court here.

The expert, V. Shaji, assistant director of Forensic Sciences Laboratory, Thiruvananthapuram, had retrieved the WhatsApp text messages sent by first accused Syanu Chacko to his father Chacko and to his neighbour Lijo. The message sent to Chacko’s phone from the Gulf said, “he will be eliminated. I will do it.” The message to his neighbour Lijo said, “Don’t worry. He is finished.”

The prosecution, which also examined two police officers as witnesses, has examined 100 witnesses in the case. The trial will continue on Thursday.

As per the prosecution case, a gang led by Syanu Chacko, brother of Neenu, abducted Kevin from his relative’s residence at Mannanam to Then-mala on May 28 night, 2018, and chased him to a stream in Chaliyakkara near Thenmala with an intention to kill him. There are 14 accused in the case and the court has framed charges against all the accused.
