Jagan Mohan Reddy meets ACJ over panel on state tenders
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday met Acting Chief Justice of the AP High Court Justice C. Praveen Kumar as part of his efforts to establish a judicial commission that will oversee the tendering process of all government contracts.
During his maiden speech immediately after taking oath as the Chief Minister, Mr Reddy had announced setting up of a judicial commission after consultations with the Chief Justice of the High Court.
Asserting that he would cleanse the system from top to bottom and bring in transparency in governance, Mr Reddy had announced during his maiden speech as the CM that a judicial commission will be appointed with a High Court judge as its chairman to oversee the entire tender process to award government contracts.
Stating that he would adapt reverse tendering, the CM had said he would not hesitate to cancel contracts on which corruption charges were levelled during the previous government.
He said that his government will ensure that the maximum number of contractors participate in the tender process and expressed confidence that at least 20 per cent of the cost can be saved by this process.
The process will ensure transparency and eliminate corruption. Nobody can point a finger at the government, said the CM.
