Ajeya Kallam to head Andhra Pradesh CM’s office
Vijayawada: Senior bureaucrat and former Chief Secretary Ajeya Kallam has been appointed principal advisor to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Orders in this regard were issued by Chief Secretary L.V. Subramanyam on Tuesday evening.
It was reported earlier that Mr Kallam will get a plum post if Mr Reddy came to power. He had been part of the review meetings of various departments being chaired by Mr Reddy.
Mr Kallam’s appointment in the CMO assumes significance in the backdrop of Mr Reddy stressing that he would expose scams that took place during TD’s regime.
The CM has been relying on Mr Kallam in picking bureaucrats in his office and also reshuffling of IAS officers.
The former CS will be head of the Chief Minister’s Office and will allot the subjects between the various secretaries of the CMO. All advisors of the government will be accountable to him. The term of appointment will initially be for a period of 3 years.
Mr Kallam had been critical about the Naidu government and had publicly criticised the large-scale corruption that allegedly took place during the earlier regime. He had alleged that the TD government had indulged in scams and criticised the huge amounts paid for construction of the temporary Secretariat.
