In Bengaluru, scooping poop, licence for your dog mandatory now
Bengaluru: Get a licence for your pet dog or pay a fine of up to Rs 1,000. Be ready to scoop the dog's poop from public places and parks or else pay a fine of Rs 100. These and more are part of a stringent canine care instructions passed by the BBMP on Monday.
The licensing of pet dogs is mandatory within Palike limits and owners have to get microchips implanted at their own cost. The licences have to be renewed every year by veterinary officers of the BBMP. Veterinary officers of either the BBMP or state government can inspect the pet dog anywhere in the BBMP limits or at owner's premises before issuing a licence.
In apartments, owners can have only one dog (approved breeds specified by the BBMP) and independent houses can have a maximum of three dogs.
Also, the owner has to scoop the poop of his pet if it has committed the nuisance in public places and parks or else pay a fine of Rs 100 for first time offence and double the fine for subsequent offences.
Whoever breaches pet licensing bylaws will be liable to be penalised Rs 1,000. Pets straying in public places without ear notch or any identification mark shall be captured and detained in dog pounds. If not claimed by the owner within 72 hours, the dogs will be sold in auction or sent to shelter homes or given up for adoption, the notice said.
