Hyderabad: Destitute, pregnant woman saved

The woman, identified as Ms Jyothi, an orphan, was found in a critical condition.

Hyderabad: An abandoned nine-month pregnant woman who was rescued from Izzatnagar near Kondapur gave birth to a baby at the Gandhi Hospital on Monday, thanks to the timely intervention of Good Samaritans.

The woman, identified as Ms Jyothi, an orphan, was found in a critical condition. Local residents called Helping Hand Foundation whose volunteers rushed to the spot with an EMRI ambulance and got Jyothi admitted at Gandhi Hospital.

Volunteer Uma Rani signed as the attendant for Ms Jyothi. After admission, the doctors carried out the blood tests and other investigations. By late evening, Ms Jyothi was in labour and was rushed to the emergency unit.

By around midnight, doctors opted for a C-section due to complications. Ms Rani said, “She had been living on the roads for quite some time. Volunteers were informed about her condition and timely action helped her.”

Ms Jyothi was supported for the last nine years by a driver, Mr K. Raju. As he was married, he could no longer take care of her and abandoned her. She was living off on the road in Izzatnagar, Kondapur, when residents saw her.
