Hard work and revision, helped: NEET Karnataka toppers
Bengaluru: As the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on Monday, a day earlier than scheduled, the cut-off mark has been lowered from last year. Some candidates from the state are in the first 350 national ranks and most of them are happy that their preparation has come out well with good results.
One of the top rankers, Akshata M. Kamath Ammembal from Mangaluru scored 653 out of 720 marks to secure All India Rank (AIR) of 107. Born to doctor parents Shanthi and Manjunath Kamath, she aspires to specialise in gynaecologic oncology, which focuses on cancers of the female reproductive system.
Attributing her success to her parents and teachers at Expert PU College, she said that classes and daily revisions with her peers helped her fare well. “Using online sources by enrolling for a number of mock tests and getting good mentoring from subject experts played a big role in this,” she said.
For Mahima Krishna, a student at VVS Sardar Patel College (AIR- 209), preparations started from I PU and he attended coaching classes at BASE. “All the teachers at the institute were supportive and they helped me understand and finish all the topics. One should work hard and not stress over the exams too much to get a good score. I have always had a keen interest in medicine and want to help those in need,” said the teenager, who scored 98.7% in her PU boards this year.
Mobile application e-DUCATOR helped Medha Sharath attain AIR 213. “Studying NCERT syllabus to get my concepts clear and keenly following my teachers’ instructions helped me crack the exam. Training sessions at Deeksha also made me confident in public speaking and communication skills,” she said. She believes that focusing on physics more as a number of tricky questions appeared from it helped her.
Vishal N. Rao (AIR-340) said rigorous coaching sessions at BASE helped him face the test with confidence. “Focus more on NCERT textbooks directly than any other study material,” he said, sharing his success mantra. He said emphasis on solving problems in physics and chemistry helped him score well. The youngster who also secured 27th at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) entrance exam will pursue pure science for his higher education.
