Chennai may get light rain from Southwest monsoon

TN weatherman Pradeep John said that June might not bring enough monsoon rains, and heat based thunderstorms are only to be relied upon for rainfall.

Chennai: The southwest monsoon left its impact on Monday as per regional meteorological center. Though only light showers have been witnessed in the city, rains are to continue in northwest parts of Chennai in next 48 hours as announced by RMC at 8.30 am on Monday.

Though there was an increase in the temperature during the day in the city, rain is to bring relief to the city in coming days. Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur are also expected to receive good rainfall, while Chennai is to witness high dusty winds accompanied by showers.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places over North Tamil Nadu and at isolated places over South Tamil Nadu. The sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy over Chennai with light rain likely in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 37 degree Celsius and 27 degree Celsius respectively, said RMC officials.

Tamil Nadu weatherman Pradeep John said that June might not bring enough monsoon rains, and heat based thunderstorms are only to be relied upon for rainfall. “Monsoon is yet to become vigorous in the west coast and will most likely become vigorous by June 7 or 8.Thunderstorms will continue to form in Vellore, Salem, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur zones,” he said.
