Hyderabad: Speeding lorry kills trader

The Kushaiguda Police handed over Mr Srinivas's body to his family after conducting a post-mortem.

Hyderabad: Betala Srinivas, a 49-year-old trader was mowed down by a speeding lorry in Kushaiguda. The victim was on his way to a shop near his house when the accident occurred.

According to the police, Mr Srinivas was a resident of Chakripuram village. Apart from being a businessman, he was also an active member of the Telugu Desam Party and a member of the party’s village committee for Bommalaramaram village in Yadadri district.

On Sunday, he was walking to a shop at Chakripuram X roads when a speeding lorry carrying a load of bricks hit him from behind and ran over him. He suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.

The Kushaiguda Police handed over Mr Srinivas’s body to his family after conducting a post-mortem. They have charged the lorry driver with causing death due to rash and negligent driving, and they have seized his vehicle. A manhunt has been launched to nab the driver who absconded soon after the incident. The deceased is survived by a wife, three daughters, and a son.
