Hyderabad: Party halls culprits for noise disturbance

The residents at old Bowenpally have also complained against erring function halls.

Hyderabad: The increasing number of function halls near the residential areas has irked the public. With parties going beyond midnight and music brazenly blaring much after the 10 pm deadline, it is evident that the function hall owners and those renting them have no qualms about violating the law.

“There are 4-5 function halls near my house. They start playing music only after 10 pm that goes on till early in the morning,” said Abhijith Nair who stays at Gudimalkapur in Mehdipatnam. He says he has tried to complain to the police who have said the patrolling vehicles would take care of the same but no follow-up has happened yet.

The police say GHMC must be careful about giving permission to these halls that have come up in the residential areas and are a source of constant disturbance to the people staying in the locality.

The residents at old Bowenpally have also complained against erring function halls. “There is a Bhagyashree function hall that has residential houses and schools around it. They have a DJ playing till late at night. How much can you keep complaining to the police? We need a permanent solution,” read one of the complaints.

Schools, hospitals and religious places are considered silent zones. There are two schools nearby and law mandates that within 100 meters of silent zones, music is supposed to be at its bare minimum.

For TRT colony in Vidyanagar, it is ironic because the areas around religious institutions are marked as silent zones but the noise is coming out of those very places of worship and function halls.
