GHMC readies to tackle monsoon
Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation along with other departments will form special vigilance teams to identify and nab persons responsible for dumping building waste material in city.
During a meeting on handling issues during the monsoon, Commissioner of GHMC B. Janardhan Reddy said that special teams would be deployed to restore rain gauge stations in city and to take necessary action in time in cases of any emergency. “We imposed restriction on road cuttings in view of the upcoming rainy season and those who indulge in this should face criminal cases. We shall complete road repair works by June 15,” he said. Managing Director of Hyderabad Water Board M. Dana Kishore said that 150 engineers were already deployed on a special task to complete ongoing works in time.
The meeting discussed 400 sensitive waterlogging areas and planned to tag them with GPS mapping. Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited N.V.S. Reddy, Cantonment CEO Mr. Chandrashekar, Hyderabad city traffic joint commissioner V. Ravinder and other officials took part in the meeting.
