Karnataka government will address issues within deadline: Dr G Parameshwar
Bengaluru: Thanking the police force for ignoring the strike call and attending duty on Saturday, Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwar said that their gesture has put pressure on the government to address their issues.
“We will be bound by a deadline to implement some of their genuine demands. Those which do not have any financial implications will be implemented in a week. I will discuss with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other senior officers to withdraw the orderly system,” he said.
Dr Parameshwara made the decision to slap sedition charges against Shashidhar Venugopal, founder of the Akhila Karnataka Police Mahasangha who called for the police strike.
“He had threatened that it would be a sepoy mutiny in Karnataka and that the elected government would not be in power after June 4. We considered it an anti-national statement and slapped sedition charges," Dr Parameshwar said.
In Mandya, a man who tried to impersonate a police constable was arrested by the local police. Similarly, Shashidhar’s wife, who tried to protest at Freedom Park, was detained.
