SI clean chit to SFI in suicide bid

The case registered in Attingal police station on Thursday was on her going missing.

Thiruvananthapuram: Attingal police on Saturday clarified that the University College student in suicide bid had not complained of harassment by SFI leaders. Attingal SI Madh-usoodanan told Deccan Chronicle that the first-year BSc chemistry student had not named anyone in her statement to the police. She stated that she made a suicide attempt following the mental pressure due to the loss of classes regularly following strikes.

Her problems with eyesight had resulted in her not being able to follow notes given in classes, said the SI. The case registered in Attingal police station on Thursday was on her going missing.

On Friday, it came to notice that she had tried to end life. She went to the police and gave her statement after being released from the hospital. The police sent her for medical examinations before producing before the Attingal court in the missing case and let off with her mother and other family members.

Meanwhile, the State Human Rights Commiss-ion suo moto registered a case. SHRC chairperson Justice Antony Dominic asked the collegiate education director and the principal to report within a month.
