Telangana movement activists not to face cases
Hyderabad: The TRS Government has decided to withdraw with immediate effect all cases filed against activists who participated in the separate Statehood movement. IT and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Friday gave this assurance after a court in Mahabubnagar sentenced Munnuru Ravi, a Telangana activist, to six months imprisonment for obstructing a public servant during the agitation in 2012.
Soon after the proclamation, ministers Mr. Jagadish Reddy and Mr. Rao convened a meeting at the Secretariat on Friday and noted that the Telangana government has lifted majority of the cases and have said that the pending cases will be lifted shortly. At this meeting, the DGP told the Ministers that only some cases were pending for various reasons. However, the Ministers asked the DGP to come up with full details of the cases in the police department in two weeks, that is by May 20.
