CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran will not reject RSS votes'
Kollam: Though Mr Kodiyeri Balakrishnan does not want RSS votes, Mr Kanam Rajendran will welcome them with both hands. “There is no objection to accepting votes from anyone in elections,” Mr Kanam, CPI state secretary, told reporters here on Friday. He was referring to the CPM state secretary's statement that the LDF does not require the votes of the RSS.
“If the RSS feels like voting for the LDF candidate, we would not reject it. During elections, there is no facility to verify who has voted for whom. Candidates get votes not only from their supporters, but also from others, ” he added. Referring to the Kerala Congress (M), Mr. Kanam said there was no need for the LDF to invite it to the front. “In the last elections, the LDF candidate won without the support of KC(M) while it was with the UDF. The situation still prevails and the LDF need not back off from its present approach,” he added.
“The Kerala Congress (M) has not declared its support to any front and the LDF has not discussed inducting it in the front,” he added. Mr. Kanam also said the LDF was confident of victory in Chengannur. “The result will be another feather in the crown of LDF government as it celebrates its second anniversary. The LDF’s main opponent is not the BJP, but the UDF. When it comes to national politics, the CPI will focus on making state-based alliances with other parties to oppose the BJP. A nationwide alliance is not on the cards now,” he said.
